The Utah Registry of Autism and Developmental Disabilities (URADD) will collect and
share information about the numbers of people who have autism-spectrum
disorders (ASDs) and other disabilities in Utah, and measure changes in these
numbers over time. ASDs are sometimes also called pervasive developmental
disorders. Autism, Asperger Syndrome, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder – Not
Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS) are three of the most common ASDs.
The Utah Department of Health and the University of Utah School of Medicine’s
Department of Psychiatry are working together on URADD. The URADD project began
in 2003 and is part of a national network that is organized by and funded through
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta.
In addition to counting the numbers of people in Utah who have ASDs and other
disabilities, the URADD project will also:
• Provide information to teach the public about ASDs and
other disabilities
• Protect the information in the Registry from being released
• Tell parents and families about resources for people who
have ASDs and other disabilities
• Give schools and health care providers information about
the numbers of people with ASDs and other disabilities so
they can better plan for future needs
• Provide ongoing training and other resources for teachers
and educational specialists to help them better identify and
educate persons with ASDs and other disabilities
• Provide ongoing training and other resources for health care providers to help them
better identify and provide health care for persons with ASDs and other disabilities
• Help in the search for possible causes and treatments of ASDs and other disabilities

project. The brochure includes a developmental milestone chart for children from birth to
five years of age. You may also contact us and we can mail a brochure to you.
