The mission of the Multicultural Health Network (MHN) is to coordinate a statewide effort to examine health disparities, to develop a strategic plan to address those disparities and improve access to health care for racial and ethnic minority populations in the state of Utah. It involves public and private sector, community organizations and individuals. All Utah healthcare providers, public health workers, ethnic and racial minority community advocates, and other Utah citizens concerned about racial and ethnic health disparities and improving access to healthcare are invited to join MHN. To join, contact Isabel Rojas at (801) 566-6191 or isabel@cuutah.org. A non-profit community based organization with experience working with racial and ethnic minorities is contracted by the Utah Department of Health, Center for Multicultural Health (UDOH, CMH) to coordinate this network. This is an annual competitive application. Grant extension depends upon satisfactory performance. The current non-profit community-based organization in charge of coordinating the network is Comunidades Unidas. The CMH and Comunidades Unidas work collaboratively with other agencies and organizations to make the mission of the Multicultural Health Network a reality. Currently, the Network has four working committees: the steering committee, the data committee, the culturally and linguistically appropriate services (CLAS) committee, and the policy and access committee.
