Specialty Care Systems

The Bureau of EMS maintains the following specialty care systems:

• EMS for Children (EMSC): Promotes an integrated EMS response system to reduce the morbidity and mortality of Utah's pediatric population.
• STEMI System: Allows EMS to recognize ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) in the field and facilitate rapid transport to specialty STEMI/PCI Centers best equipped to manage these life-threatening heart attacks.
• Stroke System: Includes EMS agencies and hospitals working together to rapidly identify patients with possible strokes and deliver them to hospitals that can rapidly treat them.
• Trauma System: Establishes a coordinated approach to reduce mortality and morbidity from traumatic injuries through cooperation of all health care providers.
