Data Collection

Data relative to the NTSIP system will be continually collected, analyzed and reported.  The data that is collected includes the following:

  • Time, date, and day of the week the event occurred.
  • Geographical location where the event occurred.
  • Event type (fixed-facility or transportation).
  • Factors contributing to the release.
  • Specific information on the injured persons: Age, sex, type and extent of injuries, distance from spill, population group (employee, general public, responder, student), and type of personal protective equipment used.
  • Information about decontaminations, and orders to evacuate or shelter-in-place.
  • Land use and population information to estimate the number of persons at home or work that were potentially exposed.
  • Who responded to the incident.
