Why Should I Be Concerned?
|
Methamphetamine (meth) users aren’t the only ones poisoned by the drug. Meth manufacturing is very dangerous and involves common household items. These chemicals, and their combinations, are potentially lethal and toxic. The chemicals and fumes that absorb into the walls, carpets, plaster, wood and ventilation systems in meth labs, as well as the surrounding soil, may cause serious adverse health effects. Even if a former meth lab has been cleaned up it is still possible that a small amount of contamination was left behind. Although found in small amounts, meth lab contaminants may still pose health concerns.
The reckless practice of meth lab production can also result in fire and explosion. Meth is often made in makeshift labs, such as homes, apartments, hotel rooms and even vehicles, causing danger not only to the producers but also to the innocent bystander.
