Q Fever is a rare disease found and spread primarily by infected animals. Sheep, cattle, goats, cats, dogs, birds and ticks are common infected animals. Those who work with animals, including veterinarians, meat workers and farmers are at the highest risk to exposure.
Q fever is spread to humans primarily though airborne dust. This dust becomes contaminated with bacteria from infected animals. Raw or unpasteurized milk from infected cattle can also cause infection. Common symptoms are an outbreak of a fever, with other symptoms such as: chills, headache, weakness and severe sweats.
