Histoplasmosis

Histoplasmosis is a fungus that lives in the environment, usually in association with bird or bat droppings. The spores can be inhaled, leading to lung infection. The symptoms of histoplasmosis are similar to pneumonia, and the infection can become serious if not treated, especially if the disease spreads from the lungs to other organs.
