Shigellosis is a bacterial infection of the large and small intestines. It is found in the feces of an infected person and may be spread by close contact or by eating or drinking contaminated food or water. Common symptoms of those infected are: mild to severe diarrhea, fever, nausea, vomiting, and cramps.
