Nutrition- Community

Make the healthy choice the easy choice

In a healthy community, everyone has access to healthy food, at home, school, work, and community venues and events. Supermarkets and grocery stores offer affordable, high-quality fruits and vegetables, and promote healthy choices. Local produce is available through farmer's markets, community-supported agriculture, and community gardens. Fresh water is available in all venues. Restaurants and vending machines provide healthy choices and nutritional information to help consumers make wise choices. School children eat breakfast daily, and healthy school meals. Mothers breastfeed their children wherever they happen to be, and have support in the hospital, worksite and community.

The Physical Activity, Nutrition & Obesity (PANO) Program focuses its efforts to address some of the policy and environmental factors that influence food intake by working with community partners and governmental organizations to make the healthy choice the easy choice wherever you are.
