UTAH ORAL HEALTH COALITION

Vision, Mission, Methods

The vision of the UOHC is an oral health system of care in which:
1) Families, patients and providers are knowledgeable about and involved
in improving oral health for people of Utah, including people with special needs, regardless of race, ethnicity and economic status;
2) Dental treatment is accessible, timely, affordable, of the highest quality and integrated into the overall health and well being of the client;
3) The oral health needs of families, patients and providers are met;
4) Prevention is emphasized.

The mission of the UOHC is to assure the oral health of Utah
residents through:
1) Increasing community awareness of the oral health needs of people in Utah;
2) Promoting oral health education and prevention;
3) Improving access to oral health care services.

The mission of the Utah Oral Health Coalition is achieved by:
1) Building linkages and partnerships;
2) Communicating with policy makers;
3) Communicating with the public;
4 ) Building community capacity to meet oral health needs in the areas of education, prevention and services;
5) Implementing interventions targeting vulnerable populations including, but not limited to, low-income children and adults, pregnant women and people with special needs;
6) Implementing prevention interventions such as community water fluoridation, dental sealants, fluoride varnish and early childhood dental visits.
