A description of Trainings and Workshops offered by the Office of Primary Care and Rural Health to agencies and organziations that serve rural and/or medically underserved populations in Utah are listed below:
- Customer Service Training A 1 to 1 1/2 hour course for all health care professionals discussing the elements of customer service, how to develop a culture of caring and empathy, how to manage customer wait time, and how to deal with difficult patients and families.
- Recruitment and Retention A presentation for governing boards and community leaders dealing with the elements of recruiting appropriate health care professionals and methods of retaining them in the community.
- Cultural Competence A presentation provided to health care professionals in all facets of health care dealing with appropriate care and interaction with patients of different cultures, races, and ethnicity. The seminar is conducted by a certified trainer and is appropriate for all organizations needing to meet federal and state requirements for cultural competence in their organization.
- Board of Trustee Training This one hour session discusses the role and responsibilities of governing boards. Included are qualifications for service on a board of trustees and how a board properly functions and overcomes stumbling blocks that prevent it from being effective. A must for new and tenured board members looking to increase their influence.
