Influenza

Influenza or the flu occurs between December and March in Utah. In addition to any vaccines required for international travel to the U.S., the following vaccines are highly recommended for adults and children, at least one month prior to departure:

  • Pneumonia - For high-risk groups, ask your doctor.
  • Tetanus, diphtheria (Td) - Needed if more than ten years has elapsed since the last dose.
  • Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) – Individuals should have had at least one, and preferably two doses of MMR.
  • Protection against Hepatitis A is optional. Check with your physician six months prior to departure.
