Severe Weather
Within hours you can travel from beautiful deserts to snow-covered mountains in Utah. Our weather is as varied as our terrain. Some of our mountains receive over 500 inches of snow in the winter. In the summer, parts of the state can reach temperatures well over 100°F! Spring and fall bring every type of weather imaginable. Our advice? Be prepared for anything! Therefore, knowing and understanding current and forecasted weather conditions is critical to the enjoyment of any outdoor activities. Besides experiencing four distinct seasons - winter, spring, summer, and fall - Utahns are also exposed to other weather-related situations. They include: high winds, extreme heat (and cold), low humidity, flash floods and lightening from sudden heavy rain, and dust storms.
