Success Stories

Julien Puzey Award Nominations

The Julien Puzey Award is presented at the annual Utah Cancer Survivorshiop Conference to a person in the community who has made a significant contribution in the area of cancer survivorship.  The award can be given to a survivor or a public health professional.

To submit a nomination, please include a 4-5 sentence biography/summary that includes:

• Who the nominee is
• What he/she has done
• How he/she has served in the community
• Scope of impact that this individual has made
• Why he/she is a good candidate for the award

Please email your nominations to Jenni Bloomfield at jennibloomfield@utah.gov by 5:00 pm on Friday, May 10, 2013.

 

 

Utah Community Cancer Resource Guide 2012 The Huntsman Cancer Institute and UCAN have released the 2012 Utah Community Cancer Resource Guide! This guide holds a lot of great information for cancer survivors and their loved ones. Topics include support groups and financial assistance among other things. Utah has one of the two highest rates of new melanoma skin cancer cases in the country. Winter is a great time to test your home for radon! Do you know what radon is? Have you tested your home for it? Follow these steps to help keep your family safe from radon: 1. Test your home for radon gas. 2. If your test results are 4 pCi/L or higher, fix your home by installing a radon mitigation system in order to lower the levels of radon. Learn more about radon here!
