Who can get blood cancers?

Anyone can get a blood cancer.

 

Leukemia:
Leukemia is more common in adults than children.  However, one-third of cancers in children aged 0 to 14 are leukemia. Leukemia is the most common cancer in children 0 to 7.

 

Lymphoma:
Males and females can get lymphoma, although there tends to be more cases among males.  Lymphoma is also the third most common type of cancer among children.  People with HIV are twice as likely to develop lymphoma than those without HIV.

 

Myeloma:
Myeloma becomes more common with age, with most cases occurring among people over the age of 67.  It is also more common among males than females. African American people are twice as likely to develop myeloma than Caucasian people.
