Am I at risk for breast cancer?

If you are a woman, you are at risk for breast cancer. Talk to your doctor to determine your personal risk and how often you should be screened for breast cancer.

 

Things that may increase your risk for breast cancer include:


Age
Having few children
Not breastfeeding
Starting menopause later than most women
Menstruating at a younger age than most women
Taking birth control
Drinking more than one glass of alcohol per day
Having a family history of breast cancer
Having had breast cancer in the past
Not being physically active
Being overweight
Using hormone replacement therapy for a long period of time
Being treated with radiation therapy near or around the chest
