How is breast cancer treated?

Each patient’s treatment is unique and depends on the patient and how advanced their cancer is.  The patient’s doctor and specialists will help determine which treatment is best.

Treatment options may include:

Surgery to remove the breast lump (called a breast-conserving surgery or lumpectomy)
Removal of one or both breasts (called a mastectomy)
Surgery to remove local or infected lymph nodes
Radiation
Chemotherapy
