How is cervical cancer treated?

If test results show there is a spot that is likely to turn into cancer (called a precancerous lesion), doctors can remove the precancer tissue and prevent cervical cancer. This precancer tissue can be removed using:

  • Loop Electrosurgical Procedure (LEEP, or LLETZ)
  • cold knife cone biopsy
  • cryosurgery
  • laser surgery

True cervical cancers are usually treated using surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation.
