Colon cancer may be prevented by getting regular screening tests which screen for colon cancer and polyps. Polyps are unusual, wart-like growths on the inside of the colon (located in a patient’s midsection). Some screening procedures, like colonoscopies and sigmoidoscopies, can find polyps. If polyps are found, the doctor can remove them during the procedure.
