How is colon cancer treated?

Each patient’s treatment is unique and depends on the patient and how advanced their cancer is.  The patient’s doctor and specialists will help determine which treatment is best.  Treatment options may include:

    1. Surgery to remove all or part of the colon or rectum
    2. Radiation therapy
    3. Chemotherapy
    4. Targeted therapy

Colon cancer treatment is very effective for colon cancer that is caught early.  Ninety-five percent (95%) of patients with early stage colon cancer live five years or more.
