Can lung cancer be prevented?

You can lower your risk of lung cancer by:

• Not starting to smoke
• Quitting smoking
• Avoiding places where you will be around secondhand smoke
• Making sure your home has low levels of radon
• Fixing your home if it has high levels of radon
• Avoiding asbestos or other harmful chemicals
• Avoiding alcohol
