What is a TPL?

TPL stands for Third Party Liability. When you have other health insurance (including Medicare), this is called a Third Party Liabiity. You must let us know if you have insurance (including Medicare) that covers anyone listed on your Medicaid card. Tell your worker as soon as possibe if you get insurance for anyone that is in your household. The TPL prints on your Medicaid card. You must call the TPL unit at the Office of Recovery Services (ORS) to make any changes. Their phone number is printed on the bottom of your Medicaid card.

You might have to choose a health plan to match your insurace. Your doctor's office bills your insurance first then bills the State or your heath pan for the part of the bill your insurance doesn't cover. Medicaid pays last.
