What is a co-pay?

You may have to pay a fee for some benefits an services. This is called a co-pay. Pregnant women and chidren do not have co-pays. Medicare or other insurance may effect your co-pays.

A message will be printed on your medical card if you have a co-pay. You may need to pay a fee when you:

  • visit the doctor or clinic.
  • visit the hospital for outpatient services.
  • pick up your prescriptions.
If you do not pay your co-pay, your doctor or medical provider can refuse to see you. You should get a receipt for your co-pay from your provider each time you see them. Save your receipts.
