Frequently Asked Questions
Can I change my health plan?
If you live in a rural county, call your local health department to make a change. You can find a list of these under the HPR Info link. Rural counties may change their health plan at any time. Health plan requests received before the 20th of the month will become effective the next month. Those requests received after the 20th of the month will become effective a month later.
If you live on the Wasatch front (Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, and Utah counties):
- You can change your health plan during open health plan enrollment each year in June. Your new health plan will start July 1.
- A letter will be sent to you each year to remind you of the open enrollment period.
- After the change, you will have up to three months to change your health plan to another open plan if you want to.
- If you feel you must change your health plan when it is not open enrollment, call your HPR.
- Remember that changing your health plan may change all the doctors, clinics and other medica experts you may use.
