Data Help

Contact Us for more information and resources on vital statistics data.

The Office of Vital Records and Statistics provides data on vital events (Births and Deaths, Abortions, and Marriages and Divorces) for the resident population of Utah and vital events that occur in Utah. Rates in the summary section of vital statistics publications are generally crude rates that show the number of events for the population at risk during a given period of time. Since crude rates are not adjusted for age or other factors in the population, it is important to realize there are time and demographic limitations when using them. In other words, crude rates may not always reflect the demographics of a population over time or from group to group. Let us know if we can direct you to resources for using unadjusted crude rates, adjusted rates, and further information on the limitations of data.

The Statistical Products Section in the Office of Vital's Records and Statistics is part of the Utah Department of Health's Center for Health Data.
