* In 2008, the state of Utah is not routinely testing horses or dead wild birds for West Nile virus. However, the Salt Lake Valley Health Department is conducting a study on dead birds. If a dead bird is found in Salt Lake County, you may call 801-534-4572 to have it tested. The numbers listed above in the table represent West Nile virus testing of horses or dead wild birds performed by a private laboratory and reported to the Utah Department of Health.
