Environmental Epidemiology Program (EEP)

The Environmental Epidemiology Program strives to improve the health of Utah residents through science-based environmental health policy and by empowering citizens with knowledge about environmental health risks and concerns.

The program has three responsibilities that lead to good policy and informed citizens:

• Conduct public health surveillance and assessment activities for environmentally related health risks and concerns. This task involves collecting and analyzing data, making interpretations and reporting findings.
• Provide information and consultation about environmental health risks and environmental health concerns to other governmental and non-governmental agencies at the federal, state and community levels that are involved in policy development. Our goal is to ensure that environmental health is considered in policy development.
• Develop data and measures that can be used by Utah citizens to understand and assess their environmental health risk and concerns. Healthy, informed citizens make better choices and are the most powerful tool we have in reducing environmental risks.
