INTRODUCTION

Since 1994, the mission of the Utah Health Data Committee has been ďto support health improvement initiatives through the collection, analysis, and public release of health care information.Ē Part of that mission includes reporting on various health care providers, such as hospitals.

This report contains information on hospitals in the state of Utah. The source of the data is the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey. The survey contains a variety of questions related to the patientís perspectives regarding the hospital. The report does not contain all of the hospitals in Utah, since the survey is voluntary and there are some facilities (such as Primary Childrenís Medical Center) that do not meet the criteria to be included in the survey. This report contains information regarding the patientís satisfaction with many different aspects of hospital visits. Data in this report come from surveys answered by patients who have stayed at the hospital.

The goal of this report is to provide information for patients who will require a stay at a hospital, loved ones who are researching a hospital for someone else, or any individual looking at the customer satisfaction scores for health care research. Many different groups contributed to the data collection, analysis, and writing of this report. These include groups within the Utah Department of Health, the Utah Health Data Committee, and representatives of the participating hospitals.
