“Healthy Mouth, Healthy Life” is a campaign created by the Utah Oral Health Coalition to help raise the awareness of oral health and its integral role in overall health. Good oral health starts at birth with good nutrition. An unhealthy mouth can affect social and physical well-being at all stages of life; it affects speaking, smiling and eating. Scientific evidence has established a link between unhealthy oral conditions and cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and other diseases. Early signs of many diseases show up as oral manifestations, (Leukemia, HIV, HPV, Diabetes, etc.) that can help with diagnosis and early treatment when recognized. As you age, good oral hygiene and regular dental care makes it possible to minimize damage and keep your teeth for a lifetime.
