Value of the MDS Case Mix Preview Report
The Minimum Data Set (MDS) Case Mix Preview Report will provide you detailed information relating to the case mix for your facility's next quarter's rate calculation. You will be able to see what records were included in the calculation and other records that were outside the period of interest (period of interest end date minus 275 days). As needed, you could then submit corrections to previously submitted assessments. If received in time, the corrected assessment records would be included in the final case mix calculation.
      • If you submit corrections to your MDS data, please submit them through the normal process - do not send them to the Reimbursement Unit.
Note: If MDS corrections are submitted, they must be received in time to be included in the data extract for the final calculation.
      • For example: The April 1 case mix is calculated using data that was extracted on, or about, the last business day of February. As such, your facility should submit its changes well before the data extract date.
